pdf security

hello

i am having big difficulties about adobe acrobat. and i don't understand a find in the help section.

I created a pdf document. I would like to send it to a lot of people. I don't want them to be able to copy or modify the file. I don't want them to be able to transfert the mail containing the pdf file.


I am trying to import contacts that I have in outlook and excel.

I don't understand how to do that fast and how to protect the document.

Security:

Open in Acrobat. Go to File menu/Document properties. Click on Security tab and set as necessary. As far as I know, there would be no way to prevent people from forwarding the email, as that is the responsibility of the email app, not Acrobat.

Acrobat is not a creator app. Open your contacts in something else and make a pdf from that. Insert that pdf in the main document (Document menu/Pages). If your doing something like a mail merge, do that in something like Word and make the pdf. Then set security for the pdf.

i saw that it was possible (using a eenvelope) to send a mail with a document that would be readable only by the recipents of your mail.


I don't created an e envelop but when the recipent recieved the secured file, he cannot open the attached file that he is supposed to get.

How can i make him read it ?

When setting password protection, you are given various compatability choices in the window that opens when you pick password security. If you select compatable with something like Acrobat 5 or higher, the recipient will not be able to open that unless he has either Acrobat 5 or higher or Acrobat Reader 5 or higher.

Unless you know what version of Acrobat or Reader that the recipeint has, it's best to select the lowest version of compatability - like Acrobat 3. Also make sure that you send them the correct password in a separate email.

i don't wanna work with passwords. the recipient could give the password to other people. i want to work with certificates.
