Hello,

I am using:
Mac OS 10.2.8 (Jaguar)
Acrobat 5.05
Quark 6.1

I would like to print to PDF using Quark 6.1, but am having problems adding a pdf printer to my printer list.

I saw a post that I thought solved my problem on the Adobe Acrobat forum:
1. Launch Print Center from Applications/Utilities folder
2. Hold down Option key and click Add button in Printer list window
3.Select Advanced from Printer connection drop-down menu
4. In the Device Field, select "Adobe PDF"
5. For Device Name, type the following: Adobe PDF
6. For Device URI, type the following: pdf:/7. For Printer Model, select Adobe
8. Click OK

I was able to successfully complete steps 1-3. Step 4 (select "Adobe PDF") I was not able to do because "Adobe PDF" was not there! Step 7, same thing, could not select "Adobe" printer model because it was not there.

I was wondering if this was because I have Acrobat 5.05 instead of 6? Is there a different method using Acrobat 5.05 or if one is using Quark 6.1, then it only works with Acrobat 6?

After I get the PDF printer installed, is the steps then to print to the PDF priinter and it will automaticaly Distill and I will have a pdf file?

Thank you so much for a resolution--I have been surfing for an answer for a good half day now.

In Quark choose File > Export > Layout as PDF.
To modify its output open Distiller and edit its settings.
Then re-export Layout as PDF from Quark with new Distiller changes.

Thanks for replying Phrazer.

I did try the file>export>layout as PDF, but got an error message that I needed to have Laserwriter 7 or above. As I was running on OSX I was puzzled at this message. After reading some posts at this site and the Adobe site, I realized that I needed a postscript printer to select, which is what I was trying to do via my initial post.
