I cant quite figure how to export my project from Pagemaker as a pdf with a bleed. I look at all the advaced pdf settings and distiller and no matter what I do the bleed is not there. Any ideas?

Rob,

I was curious, so I tried it. I extended my background graphic beyond the edges of the paper (as one does for bleeds in actual printing), wrote a ps file and distilled it. It worked just fine, no special instructions needed. I don't believe I have anything special set up. Don't know how much help this will be to you, but the procedure may be simpler than you think.

Hi,

The secret is in the making of the Postcript file.
In the print setup box choose Acrobat Distiller as your printer driver. Then in the paper choose custom as the paper size, add the bleed you need for your original document. click the option " add printer marks" and also "center page in print area".
It is possible that you get the message 'that not all of the information will fit ob the page" and the question if you want to print anyway, click on print anyway
Afterwards you distill it and voilà the bleed is now in your PDF
Hope this helps

yeah, what Grillhouse said! Also what I said more briefly in your other post.

offers this excellent book that is a great reference for everything related to pre-press. It is called "Right From The Start", printed by Courier Corp, and written by Alan Barnett... answers every possible question from graphics to fonts to PDF. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
