Hi Adobe masters!

I have read several threads about this topic and am still very confused by what is actually being said. Can anyone help me to grasp what is going on when I try to export a PM6.5 publication to a PDF format and I get the error message "The Distiller has not created the PDF file please see the log file for details"

The log file then says:
Start Time: Friday, April 02, 2004 at 12:48 PM
Destination: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distillr\Startup\EXAMPLE.pdf
Source: EXAMPLE.PS
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
**** End of Job ****

As was suggested I downloaded the most recent postscript driver from Adobe site and installed it. I also tried to simply print to a virtual postscript printer (I don't have a postscript printer) as was suggested in another thread. Both Adobe Distiller and Generic Postscript Printer icons show up in my Printer folder.

All with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

Hi, BillNMiami,

Firstly, Adobe don't support PM6.52 on WinXP.

Secondly, the logfile suggests something is adrift with your colour palette - maybe the colour library is missing. Check the colour palette.

The other usual reason for Export PDF falling over are here:

Thanks John,

I followed your troubleshooting procedure and came across this discrepancy:

The key items are "Acrobat Distiller" and the "Acrobat Distiller 3011.104" PPD."

Mine are "Acrobat Distiller" and the "Acrobat Distiller 2017.801" PPD."

Does this matter?

I also pressed ^J and the color pallette popped up. As far as a library, I could not find one under Window\Plug-in Pallettes\Show Library. No libraries were displayed.

WHen I tried to print to a Distiller printer I got htis error message in Notepad:

%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I am stumped. Can anyone help?

Hi, BillNMiami,

> Mine are "Acrobat Distiller" and the "Acrobat Distiller 2017.801" PPD."

With Distiller 5 you need the "Acrobat Distiller 3011.104" PPD.

You can download it from here:

The file is called "Adist5.ppd" and needs to installed into the folder [pmdir]\RSRC\[language]\PPD4
See:
As regards your colour profile, I suspect you have a CMYK TIFF image with an embedded colour profile. My knowledge in this area is not great, but I suspect you will have to open it in Photoshop and change or remove it.
