PDF Compression

Hello All,

What is the best way to compress a pdf file when saving from illustrator? I need to have all of them to at least 500k or under 1mb when the orignal ai files are 4-20mb. I have effects in the ai file. thanks

Have you tried various ways of generating the PDF?

There's at _least_ 3 that I know of:
1) File | Save As... .PDF
2) File | Print... PDF Writer
3) Drag & Drop onto Distiller

Try all 3 and see what happens...

From within Acrobat, you can also try File | Reduce File Size...

Try printing to the Adobe PDF printer (#2 from rhyno2k).
Go to setup, then preferences. Under Default settings you have a smallest file size option. This usually does the trick for me.
