When I print to pdf the color both on the screen and printed to paper is much darker then what I'm looking at on the screen when desiging ads with In-Design CS for PC. I want the colors on my screen to match the output as close as possible.
Any suggestions/ideas - greatly appreciated!

We had a customer who was very upset because the proofs we were printing for him did not match his files. It ended up that he was selecting pantone colours simply by how they looked on the screen - he had no swatch book. His screen was way too dark so the colours he was seeing were several shades darker than the printed proofs. We told him to pick pantone colours from the pantone book & ignore what he saw on the screen. He has since had it professionally calibrated and what he sees is what he gets. An easy test is to hold a pantone swatch up to a block of the same colour on your screen to see how close it is.
