From experience it seems that the PDE is pretty useless and the help system stops short of giving a decent example or two of setting it up.

But as it's the only thing I've got to aid distribution is there anything in the way of a tutorial you can offer to make the rotten thing work! In particular I am having trouble with the directory structure and aliases.

Or what else is there I can use. Thanks.
 
Sorry, but you're right. PDE is pretty useless. As much as it pains me to say that, it's the truth.

Personally, I've had good luck using WISE ( though I know other folks prefer InstallShield ( Neither supports Paradox well, but they're both full featured installation engines that support the BDE.

Also, WPO 2002 is said to ship with an MSI that installs Runtime for you. That's half the battle. (I can't confirm this at this time; hope to be able to do so soon.)

Thanks very much. I am now on the track to Mr Wise's house... would the cheap(sic) version do the job adequately it's called Wise Install Maker - as I can download a demo are there any particular tips you could offer to help me on my way!!
