Hello. I read the post thread184-769626 about creating a print screen from within Visual FoxPro, using PCT_DLL.DLL.

My question is: can I distribute freely this DLL with my applications? (this is use of this DLL in a commercial application).

Thank you very much.

All best,
Lucian

Lucian,

Which DLL are you referring to?

The only one I can see in the thread you mentioned is USER32.DLL. If that's the one you mean, you don't need to distribute it. It's an integral part of Windows, and is guaranteed to be present.

Or are you referring to something else?

Mike

Mike,

Thank you for your response. I read the note that you provided me, but I didn't find any explicit information about the possibility to distribute the DLL freely. There was a not that said that the code could be obtained by writing to the author.

Could this mean that it is ok for me to distribute it?

Thank you again.

Lucian

Hello Mike,

I already did that, but the author has not responded me. Maybe the e-mail address is obsolete. Thank you very much though.

All best,
Lucian Ilea

Sorry for bothering againg. I have another legal question. I also used in my application MSCHRT20.OCX and RICHTX32.OCX. I tried to search the web for information about distributing these files, but I did not found anything usefull. Do you know something about distributing these files with a commercial application?

I think these are MS files, but they don't answer me...:(

Thank you again.

All best,
Lucian

Lucian,

Both of the files you mentioned are part of the ActiveX controls that come with VFP, and which Microsoft permit you to distribute.

If you look in the VFP Help topic, "ActiveX Controls Overview", you will see that it explicitly permits distribution of these files.

Mike
