PCMIA Card Reader Mirrors C Drive

I have recently installed a PCMCIA card reader on my win 98 box to read my GPS data from a flash card.

The Card reader makes it mirror the contents of the C drive when I put my card in. Other readers read the data fine.

Bloody weird!

Cheers

Both add-in PCMCIA slots, and Win98 are an issue.

Machines that do not support PCMCIA at the BIOS, ie not part of the motherboard (desktop PC, not a notebook), are prone to strange problems. Typically there are IRQ problems. You could try moving the PCMCIA adapter to a different PCI slot, preferrably a bus-0 slot.

But I think it's Win98 causing your problems. Win98 does not deal with removable storage well, even floppies. Be sure you have Win98 drivers and patches installed. For example, my Olympus camera required a USB driver update in order for Win98 to see it as a removeable drive, but this is not required for W2K or XP. Be sure to restart exployer after you insert or remove the flash card. You could also try restarting windows with the card inserted.

Like Franklin said, not enough info.
