PCMCIA Wireless Network Card that won't get in the way? Suggestions? 1

I'm planning on getting a PCMCIA Card with 4 USB Ports on it. I also want a Wireless Network Card for setting up a home Network (which I'll be doing soon I hope).

Now, the USB Card has the USB Ports on the Card on the bit that sticks out going UPWARDS. See pic:

So, this blocks the other PCMCIA Slot...UNLESS I put the USB Card in the top slot. But then the Wireless Network Card would need to have the sticking-out part going DOWNWARDS.

Most of the ones I've seen have the sticking-out bits going upwards which won't work... Does anyone know where I can find such a Card (on a UK Website preferably)?

You can get a wireless adapter that uses a USB connection.

3com also makes a wireless card with a handy antenna that retracts when not in use. Another option.

I'm kinda wanting to spend as little as possible on a PCMCIA Card...this one doesn't look like it'll get in the way, and it is quite cheap too:

Sticking out bits?? No need for sticking out bits

Another option I've used, doesn't interfere with apposing
PCMCIA slot.
Note* both suggestions are the latest (fastest) 108Mbps standard and are fully compatible with earlier slower speeds.

That link...it's not exactly the same (that's a "Premier", the one I was gonna get is about half the price cos it's only a "plus" ), but very similar. So, if it doesn't interfere, then all looks pretty good...

So, now I need to find some money to buy the Wireless Router, PCMCIA Wireless Network Card, and a PCMCIA USB2.0 Card....lol.

As I have no idea where you are I couldn't point you directly to a retailer and was just giving you suggestions.

Also pointing out that these devices don't necessarily have seperate aerials.

Remember latest speed is 108Mbps

Separate Aerials? Sorry, what do you mean by that?

Also, I was looking at a 108Mbps Router and Card but it's not really necessary for me (I just want to share an Internet Connection which is only 1Mbps anyway - I won't be sharing files internally very much).

There is one by D-Link which is only £5 more - but there are many reports of Frequent Dropped Connections, and I'm unsure about the more expensive one since I don't really need it, and their review ratings are less than the cheaper Linksys one (54Mbps).

No Dongle type external bendy aerial.
These PCMCIA cards have the aerial built in internally.

Yeah! you are quite right, it's the internal file sharing and backups! that really benefit from the extra speed.
For example: saving 30gigs worth of music and pictures to another PC before a reformat.

But if I were in that situation, I'd probably do a mixture of:

- Moving most of the data via Network
- Moving some via Memory Stick of DVD+RW (smaller stuff).

I think I'll stick with the 54Mbps one, thanks anyway for the suggestions though.
