Do these cards need to be specially configured in some way or can a standard card be purchased anywhere? I have a Succession 4.0 PBX and two Opt. 11C's along with a MIRAN and I think the MICA card also takes one right? What exactly does the card back up the config files? One that was quoted to me is a 64M card at $93ea.

You can use them to backup the database on the PBX's, install software, and load .wav files to the MIRAN. I am not sure, but you may also be able to back up your settings on the MICA and MIRAN.

We have used simple off the shelf cards without issue. Of course, if you want software, you would need to get it on the PCMCIA card first. Since these cards are used for file transfer, there is no special configuration needed, at least that I am aware of or have come across.

(We have about six in use, all with different software and system databases on them)

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

If you want to use these to install software onto the PBXs, be careful not to format the card with any Windows application :( Once formatted by Windows, all you can effectively use the cards for is backups.

If you use the Card Pro software provided from Nortel doesn't it format the PCMIA card?

I have personally never used that software. We have not needed it. (Not that that means anything!)

yes it formats it . In what special way I do not know

What the software is supposed to do is to format the card in a special way, however I've had some major problems with it. If you can't get the card to work in the process of upgrading software on the pbx, find a old laptop with win 95/98 put it in and reformat the card with windows formatting. If you format the card in 2000/xp I'm sure your card will be semi-defect. That is what Cethlenn stated above.
