PCL XL error

We received the following error on both a networked (by default) black and white printer and a color printer that we added an external jetdirect to.

PCL XL error

Subsystem: KERNEL
Error: IllegalAttributeValue
Operator: VendorUnique
Position: 9

I'm not sure if it is OS related or printer related. It has happened to more than one person on more than one computer, but not all of the computers connected to those two printers.

You should try updating the printer driver. That is typically why one would see this type of error.

If you look on the URl's that linney provided, there are tons of hits on google...

Anyhow, you need to update your printer driver to the newest one. You don't specify what kind of printer is causing the problem, but go to the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers. If that doesn't work, play around with a driver that will work whether it's an older one that came with XP, etc....

I have seen this error a bunch on printer's and it almost always a driver issue.
