I need to install Windows 10.
Hence I burnt a DVD with it, from this ISO: Win10_1511_1_English_x64
Plus I created a USB Drive from the same ISO.
Neither one will be recognized by my desktop (Acer, Predator G3 710).
The only USB Drive that works, is the one Acer sent me for restoration.
At the moment it runs on Ubuntu Studio 16.04.

What could be different between the Acer's USB Drive and the ones I've made?

Thanks guys,

JDL

to create the media, did you use the windows media creator? if so, it should boot from either as long as the device is before the hdd in the bootlist. You can't just copy an .iso file to media, you have to use burn image to make the dvd, or you could use something like xboot or sardu to create bootable image from .iso image.

I used Universa USB installer. I'll get xboot or sardu and try again then.
Thanks rclarke250

On the DVD, how did you burn the DVD? It's really easy with some burning programs to accidentally burn the actual ISO file to the disk instead of creating a disk from the ISO. What I normally do is:
1. Mount the ISO file using one program
2. Tell the burning program to copy from the mounted ISO file to a DVD

Hi rclarke250,

I got Sardu, as it's the one with a Linux version.
I hope you know about it because I'm stuck.

It won't let me use it unless I register. So I did.
They sent me an email with a password and a Serial Code. Which I used in the Registration window above. But when I clicked in the Register button, it pops up that window asking me to insert the password for administrator When I click on Cancel then it pops up another window with this: "You need password root access!".
Do you recall any of this?

Thanks rclarke250

No kidding!
Fortunately, I do!

Thanks for the link rclarke250 :)

Check you BIOS - has the boot order been set correctly? Does it select USB devices/removable devices before anything else?

Yes , Sardu requires a ROOT password, it unlocks access to essential tools, and gives the ability to save then restore system settings also.

I finally accessed Sardu with root password, but still, it would not find my mounted USB drive.
Then I tried from my pc with Windows 10. Did format that USB drive, and still, Sardu would not see it.
I tried Xboot, gave me some kind of error message, and did not go further.
Finally, WinSetupFromUSB did the job. Only thing is pending now, is to use it booting up from it to confirm it works.
Geeez! I never had to go through so much crap just to get a USB drive burnt!
