I am having a reoccurring issue with my pc rebooting for no reason. I have a PC 266 M810LR motherboard with a 1 gig AMD Anthon processor. I am currently running windows 98. (Yes I am still in the dark ages.) I built this pc about a year ago and it has started to reboot at any given time for no apparent reason. It doesn't matter if I am gaming, browsing the web, or doing nothing. It just shuts off and restarts.
I am a technician and my first guess is that it would be the power supply going bad. But since I am not using the company's dime to fix this I am hesitant to go out and buy one without exploring my options. I have heard of an auto reboot function whenever windows encounters a fatal exception. Is this fact or fiction? If so how would I double check it in 98.
I don't know I probably need to just break down spend the 20 bucks and buy a power supply but I just wanted to see if anyone knew of anything that I could try.
