We have an app that we created in foxpro 9.0 and also one that was created in foxpro 6.0. They are both located on different servers that the pc connects to through our network. Could this possibly cause the PC to lock up?

The PC only has 256 MB of RAM. What are the required specs a PC must have in order to run a foxpro 9.0 application? Do you think upgrading the memory would solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

The help file says VFP 9 only requires 64MB of ram and suggests 128MB or higher, so 256 shouldn't be a problem.

A VFP 6 and VFP9 app shouldn't have a reason to collide. If there was a prlblem with accessing a runtime component you would get an error message not a lockup.

What series of actions causes the lockup to occur?

This is what I was thinking, but I wanted to get a second opinion. I think it may be a network issue. I the connection may be causing the app to lock up. Not sure though. Anyone have a suggestion of how to prove that to our techs?

The app runs fine everywhere else. Just not from this person's PC. It is in a separate building.

Do not know if you can do this, but the way I find problems like this is to install the source code on the computer having the problem and run the app with the debugger active.

Sounds like the person in the other building does not have rights to something required in the app, Just my guess. Like a mapping to a server.

The question that comes to my mind is "What's different about this person's PC?"

If they run the app, what do you see in Task Manager? Is it in fact running?

Hope that helps,

Stewart

Is the access to your server through a VPN or wired or wirelass?
Bring a corectly working laptop with you to the problem site and connect from there. This might help you isolate the problem to the PC or the connection.
