My machine locked up as I was typing a Word doc. I powered it down then back up and now Win2k won't start up. I powered it down again and tried to login in safe mode but it still wouldn't start up, it stops (or locks) midway thru. I'm thinking of using the Recovery Console but I'm not sure how to proceed since I'm not getting any errors. Any suggestions on what to check are greatly appreciated.

i would say more than likely the ntoskrnl.exe file in the systems32 directory is damaged/corrupt.It controls Win2k boot procedure and that lovely MS logo at the start!Best thing is to copy ntoskrnl.exe from another win2k machine and place it in your directory under the same name.
Should work!
David.
ps check the "boot.ini" in the root drive also to make sure it points to this file.

Tried Last Known Configuration and was able to start it back up again but it keeps locking up on me. I'll start another thread. Thanks for the help!
