I have connected my HP Laptop to my Panasonic DLP HD TV using a HDMI cable. All seems to work ok except when I vew the display on the TV I cannot see the top, bottom, right and left edges of what's shown on the laptop. In other words, the Windows Task Bar at the bottom of the laptop is not displayed on the TV screen. Same with the top edge where the control box is located. the Minimize, Restore and Close controls will not be displayed on the TV. I've tried to change the Aspect on the TV but seems like while it's in HD mode that option will not work.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Sounds like you need to set the VGA output on your laptop to a lower resolution. This is normally done by using the utilities in the display settings of the laptop.
It might also help to read the TV's own manual in order to find the ideal input resolution needed.

Thanks for the reply Martin but I'm not using the VGA output, I'm using the HDMI output jack as stated in my opening post. Also, when using the HMDI input jack on the TV seems like the aspect is set automatically because it senses the picture is HD.

As Martin stated, the Resolution may have to be changed on the laptop... and Martin was not talking about the VGA output (PHYSICAL) from Laptop to TV, but the VGA output (RESOLUTION)...

but, depending on how the screens are set up, e.g. Clone or Expanded... and what graphic hardware & driver are being used...

nVidia & ATI both allow the setting of the resolution on both screens separately and only in expanded mode...

Ok thanks for the clarification Ben. I will check the display settings again on the laptop to see which options can be changed. I know it's a nVidia graphics card and originally before I posted the question I tried changing some things around to no avail.

Since it is nVidia, I would do the following:

1. update to the latest drivers...

2. use the nVidia Control Panel (left side Panel):
a. expand Display
b. click Run Multiple Desktop Wizard
Choose the nView display mode Dualview
and the correct resolutions for both the TV and Laptop...
c. under the Set up Mutltiple Displays (left side)
you can set which one as your Primary & Secondary, etc.
