Win 2000 user here. Never had this b4. P4 2.8 GHZ with gig ram. I log in (auto login) and my desktop icons appear and all programs appear to load correctly. PC is extremely slow. Can't ctrl-alt-del. right clicking anything is too painful. I try to boot is safe mode and "IRQL-Not_less_or_equal" blue screen. Any thoughts?

Is this a new OS installation? If so, I suggest you reformat and reinstall. Also, if you are using non-original system CD's have them checked for a virus before you install.

No, I've had the installation for awhile now. Re-formatting is not an option. I actually got it back up but it was painful. I believe it was my anti virus files being corrupt.

Have you put any new hardware in (e.g. RAM, USB devices, PCI cards)? Sounds like one of them is faulty or the driver for the device(s) is corrupt. Try testing them individually and uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for them.

Cheers,

Hammertime
