only a novice with pc's when i click hands free or talk in yahoo or msn messenger my pc crashes blue screne does anyone have an answer.please

i am using 2000 pro. this same thing happens in yahoo and msn messenger.someone suggested a new sound card ijust dont know. my mic and speekers testsd ok in all three tests. it did work for a while then gave up the ghost.

Lee, it appears to me that you have software that walking on top of other software or is corrupt. Have you tried uninstalling messenger and reinstalling it yet? Have you tried a different program that does the same thing as was suggested earlier. You might want to check for compatibility issues for the messenger software and see if there are any known bugs with 2000 pro that you are using..maybe the microsoft database if you just copy the blue screen error and do a search at microsoft's database of support problems. let us know what the error messages are...i have found many blue screen solutions in the MS databases...and some weird reasons they are happening. most are easy to correct....

downloaded trillian but dont seeme to be able to use talk or webcam unless only on pay site.and as for trying to copy the blue screen error im just not quick enough .that is if im suposed to copy all the writing at the top of screen.yahoo is the only one i can use which lets me get as far as hands free without someone being on line then i click and off it goes .blue screen.nackered.

Is there an error message which says "Messenger caused a general protection fault at module ......." or something close to that?

what OS are you running? if it is xp the right click my computer click advance tab, click settings on startup and recovery and uncheck automatically restart, this will give you the entire blue screen

was on xp crashed there .now on 2000 still the same just .tried aim messenger msn .yahoo. all the same think it might be my sound card.xwave half duplex might need a better card .would this cause the crash.tried to look for drivers what a nightmare for a welder.thank you.

i still believe you can turn off automatically restart to get the full error.
as for your question Yes any bad or corupted driver or file related to your soundcard, videocard, and or camera can cause the system to crash
