OK, so I'm stuck.

I'm reinstalling a Partner R6 system that was moved from another office. It sat in storage for about 6 months, so I hung it on the wall, replaced the batteries, did a system reset and am now ready to start configuring.

BUT I can't seem to get in logged in via the ext. 76 remote access. The card is installed, I set the remote access password, I dial with the modem and connect at 14400, then get bumped off. The password prompt doesn't come up. I went back and checked to ensure the password was in the system and it displayed the password I had entered.

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks.

Are you using the internal modem on your laptop? I had tons of problems on the R6 connecting. R7 is fine. What I heard around these forums, was that you needed an external US robotics or Avaya modem. I just gave up.

Yes, it is an internal modem in a Dell Latitude, XP pro OS.

That sounds strange, but nowadays I believe anything!

Try connecting to the ACS when it's a stand alone unit, I've been finding once their in a cabinet with other cards they don't want to connect??

I did a more thorough search on this site and I see that I'm far from alone in this problem.

I'm going to try some of the ideas listed in other posts and report back if I'm successful.

I've alreay tried removing all other cards and the VM card...still no luck.

OK,
Just checking, how are you connected to the R6? Plugged in to an ext port? Is the port line selection set to select intercom? Are you using a single pair line cord? Some modems do not like the second pair cable feeding in a "hot" pair. Are you sure you did not set the night button access PW instead of the remote access PW? Can you dial 76 with a butt set, or system phone on intercom and hear the modem answer?

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

I have the modem connected to port 17 using a two-wire phone cable. I can intercom dial ext 76 on both a 18D phone and the modem answers after 3 rings, can also hear the modem dialing and Remote Access answering from the modem speaker itself.

The system is fresh from a all-clear erase system programming that I did before I started. I'm pretty sure I set the right password. I think is was #730 (don't have my info right in front of me now) that I used to program, and the prompt on the phone LCD said Remote Password or Remote <something>.

I'm going to dig in my "useless junk" pile and pull out an old external US robotics modem I have and try that tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help.

Then try the external modem. Or try another pc with a different modem

I ran into that same problem....

Using a different modem solved the problem. I used the one in my older laptop and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for all your help.
