I had this info once upon a time, but now we have a PC connected with VNC so we can just do it via the network.

Now we're working on installing our new VoIP system, and they need to have access to the switch. I have my level 1 and level 2 passwords, phone number to dialin etc, but there is a command, or something that I had to do to actually display the characters on the screen, but I'm at a loss... I've looked for my note book that had this info in it and it's lost. To make things worse, our Telco is not helping much. Any advice? Does anyone else know how to do this?

Thanks!

Are you still connected via the network and not dialing in? Are you connecting to the command line interface or through another Nortel product? We need more information on how you are getting to where you are having issues. Are you using Procomm or some other program to get there if command line?

Control + R will refresh for Mermail, but beyond that, just dialing into a PBX its automatic.

There is some kind of big box that has all kinds of serial connections and a spot for a printer that is independent of the pbx itself. I think it also calls the telco for certain fault codes (but I could be wrong)

the "big box" is an seb of call path.. or some other brandname that requires a user name and pwd.. but there is no default and no one here is posting passwords..

but your did say
our Telco is not helping much

in there lies the problem... you bought the switch, your paying for maint and they will not give you access... sorta like the tail wagging the dog... ask your local contact, if they do not request a conf with them and there boss..

if that does not work, get a quote from another vendor..

yes, we've all had cust's that we are reluctant to give a owd to.. but they pay the bills, including un'breaking

you can always replace that with a regular stand alone modem for temporary access, but I would not leave that hooked up all the time.

With a regular modem you would connect then enter your login info and you are in the PBX. If you are paying them for support and that includes 24hr monitoring you would want that SEB reconnected when you are done.

I would still follow JP's advice and be persistant to get that SEB password, but if you absolutely have to get in remotely you still can work around it until they do.
