Pattern Stamp Tool Use

Hi,
We're trying to completely match a background- pixel for pixel, but when we apply the tool we get some soft dithering instead of an exact sample.

Now, in fact, we don't even have to sample but it should just match whatever pattern is chosen.

It's got to be just a "use of tool" thing that I'm missing.

Yes, we have tried using the tool with both aligned check and unchecked. Anyone use the tool often or can provide direction would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure if I understand "them" well, but when they try to make sample without dithering the edges, they can try to apply stamp into selection

...don't take it too seriously

You've probably figured it out by now, but you need to use a 'hard' edged brush
