BCM400 v4.0

Guys, looking for some help. When I download the applications from the BCM they are quite obviously old and crappy looking. The Personal Call Manager looks like it was made for Win98. The IP Softphone is the old style even though we have 1120E phones throughout.

I'm looking for answers to the questions below.
1. Can you download these applications anywhere else other than from the BCM web interface?
2. Do you need to 'pay' Nortel for these patches?
3. Should the patches be available from our vendor?
4. Do I need a login from Nortel Support in order to download patches ie are they on a secure part of their support site?

Thanks.

never seen the apps downloaded from other places but they might be.

The patches should be available from your vendor. The cost of those patches depends on your service agreement with said vendor. If you don't have a service agreement its usually billable to get them installed, if you do, it is usually included in the agreement. (not always, so check with your vendor)

Regarding the Softphone, Nortel has an update on their website.
You can try downloading it at
As it is an update, it requries a copy of the softphone to be installed. I'm not sure if it requires Version 1 (which sounds like what you have) or Version 2, but it's certainly worth a shot.

You need the v2 softphone to use the patch. The v2 softphone isn't available from the BCM downloads. Why would this be?

Have you got any more information about V2 of i2050. I need it because it supports Vista, but there is absolutely no information about V2 on Nortel.com

My point is why do you have to rder the v2 software when v1 was downloadable. And if it now has to be purchased then why leave the v1 product on the BCM downloads page? Very annoying Nortel!

V2 you need to pay for.
V1 is Free.
It's there because not everybody needs or wants V2.

I use V1 as it works for me.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

You can still use version 1 on the BCM product. That version is free. It is usable and works well. They have now come out with a new version that has a new look and I think it works better. Is it a surprise that they would charge, very little, for it? Nortel is in the business to make money.

Just so everybody knows, I spoke to a guy in Nortel, and he confirmed that Version 2 only works for 4.0 and BCM50 R2.

it does work (unsupported) on 3.6/7 and works on cs1k as well.
