I have just patched a Solaris 10 Sparc system using suns recommended patch bundle and I get the following error when it is finished.

vc:/system/boot-archive:default (check boot archive content)

Reason: Start method exited with $SMF_EXIT_ERR_FATAL.
See: See: /etc/svc/volatile/system-boot-archive:default.log
Impact: 48 dependent services are not running. (Use -v for list.)

svc:/network/rpc/gss:default (Generic Security Service)

Reason: Restarter svc:/network/inetd:default is not running.
See: See: gssd(1M)
Impact: 10 dependent services are not running. (Use -v for list.)

svc:/application/print/server:default (LP print server)
State: disabled since Fri Jun 03 10:24:51 2005
Reason: Disabled by an administrator.
See: See: lpsched(1M)
Impact: 1 dependent service is not running. (Use -v for list.)

upon searching the web I found a solution to it but it is only for x86 and not sparc.

So how can I rebuild this archive on Sparc bearing in mind sparc does not have th grub bootloader. How can I boot into failsafe mode and fix teh boot-archive??

Cheers

Steve

Console login service(s) cannot run

the patch install says that it was unable to install this patch so why is my installation screwed?

I have looked in the patchinfo for this patch and it says that it needs reconfiguring after install! what needs reconfiguring ? I have tried touch /reconfigure and that does not work and I have also tried boot -r and that had no effect either.

Surely I can not be the onlz person in the world to fall foul of this problem on Sparc Solaris???
