Pasword Protecting a Windows 2000 Folder

Does anyone know if there is a way to password protect a folder in Windows 2000 without purchasing third-party add-ins?

If not, is there a way to allow access to the folder for a created user group while denying access for "Everyone"? I created a user group in which the members had full control of the folder. However, when I denied all privileges for "Everyone", the privileges for the user group were lost as well. This is because "Deny" privileges takes precedence over all others.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Don't deny the everyone group, remove it from the list.

If you are using FAT32 then convert it to NTFS so that you can have all the file/folder security feature.

ricpinto : i am using ntfs. how do i access the file/folder security feature. i'm running windows 2000 advanced server.

Go to the Properties of the target folder and choose the Security tab.

That's the first place I looked. I don't see any options for password protecting the folder.

You can't password protect a folder, you have to set the Security to allow only those you want to have access to it's content.
