Pasting graphics from Photoshop 3.0 to Pagemaker 5.0

I used to own a 486 and could cut and paste from Photoshop 3.0 to Pagemaker 5.0 without any annoying white border around the image. Now I get the cut image but with the square around it, what happened? I am now running a Pentium.
