Users have Windows 2000 Professional workstations and are sharing folders and printers with each other.

Have now added these users to a Windows 2000 server that does NOT use Active Directory and does not have a Domain.
The server is there for data storage/sharing only.
When users login to their workstations, drives are mapped to areas on this server.
(net use S: \\servername\sharedarea\)

At each workstation, I manually changed the workstation password to be the same as the one I made on the server. They are working fine at the moment in this configuration.

QUESTION: Can password changes be synchronized from one location?

When user changes workstation logon password, it would be preferred that the password also changes at the server AND at the other workstations where they are sharing folders and printers.
Is this possible in our present configuration?
If so, what needs to be done to make it happen?

It is not possible to synchronize passwords for local accounts from one computer to another without some type of third party intermediary. This is exactly what AD is designed for by providing a single source for account information. Promoting your win2k server to a domain controller would take care of the problem. Kevin Mattson

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
This is not what I wanted to hear, but if that's what has to be done, so be it.
Now, all I have to do is figure out how to promote it to a domain controller. <grin>
