Has anyone experienced a password getting lost or corrupted on a system? I have an IPO that no longer accepts its password. I am the only one who accesses it. It was a complex password so nobody could guess what it was.

Where in System Status is security settings? If I search the help file it says to log into Manager.

Help files are 100% correct, Manager>File>Advanced settings>Security...

Login with User: security pwd: securitypdw (or whatever you changed it to)

Set new pwd and untick your Administrator and save

Kind regards

Gunnar

Dude, I cannot log into Manager. That's what this whole thread is about. I am locked out. I can only log into System Status. I have not gon on site yet to console in and reset it.

Unless you're trying to tell that you can't open the Manager application,

In Manager: File> Advanced> Security settings.
Manager turns into Security mode, login with "security"

Kind regards

I can RUN Manager just fine. Trust me on this, OK? I cannot CONNECT to the system because I am locked out. I can RUN system status and CONNECT to the unit, however using the same password.

But security settings is a different account connecting on different ports, have you tried? :)

Ok, I'll try one more time...

- You can open manager [Check]
- Discovery finds the IPO [Check]
- Login fails [Account locked]

Don't try to login, just cancel.
Forget about Administrator and the strong pwd for now.

- You have an empty blank Manager.
- Click File
- Click Advanced
- Click Security settings

Manager turns into Security mode, and you can now try to discover the IPO again.

Username: security
Password: securitypwd (or if that was changed, use that)

Once in, go to the Administrator-account.
Give it an new password and unlock it.

If you can't get into the security settings, try installing the Manager again.
If that fails, take your serial cable, go on site and do the DTE.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Sounds like their AV/firewall has thrown a bitch fit with Manager, load it on a different machine if possible :)

Here's the three most common errors codes you get on login attempts:

I appreciate the patience of course. I do tech support all day so I know what it's like. This is frustrating because what I see does not match what you instruct. This is my screenshot after following Gunnaro's instructions. As you can see, no security settings option.

Nothing works. Looks like the DTE method will be next. At least I keep current CFG files in case I have to reset the whole unit.

Which one of the three error codes is displayed when trying to login?

Kind regards

Gunnar

First one. But I can connect using the old password and System Status.

Have you tried toggling the secure comms setting in Manager? Try with it on and also off :)

Sorry but still very unclear whether you have tried to default the security or go into the security configuration using security/securitypwd (yes you said nothing works but that tells us nothing about what was tried).

Try using BusinessPartner/BusinessPartner and also try web management. Yes, otherwise DTE cable.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
