Password recovery for 2610

I got a friend who lost a password for his 2610 router. Can someone help me by telling a way of recovering the password.

The IOS version is 12.

Hope someone help

Thanks Phil. I did download the notes and send it to my freind. he just follow the steps and it did work fine.
