The business I work for is having trouble with an unkown person deleting the history trail after they surf the net. This is a corporation, and they monitor the history trail and have been breathing down my neck about it being erased. Is there anyway I can password the "Clear History" option? Or, if nothing else, can I password the browser itself?

There are many different ways to clear the history, cookies, etc. The "clear history" function in IE is the least of your worries. Personally, I never use this method to erase my browsing history.
I guess what makes me curious is, if there is no history, how do they know it's being erased? Surely this corporation has resources sophisticated enough to recover browsing histories beyond simply capturing the History file...

i agree.

likewise, if there is a problem with one user with browsing, maybe they need to be monitored alot more closely. what i've done in the past was install VNC and when i was at home and the person in question was working, i would remotely connect to thier pc and see all that was being done. a couple days of monitoring and a employee meeting and i didn't have to worry about it any further.

Corporate is not breathing down my neck nearly as much as my manager who refuses to use favorites, and when the history is erased she has to reenter all her stuff, and blah blah blah. It's more or less this reason we are trying to stop the history from being erased.

Well...looks like she needs to expand her parameters...

You can build your IE6 version with policis , I think one of the policis is to prevent access to the tools on IE
