Hi guys!

I was wondering if it was possible to set passwords to folders in Windows XP?

I've been trying to figure this out for ages...I can password protect files, but not folders.

Any help would be great!

Thanks.

Have a look here (when you have spare couple of hours).

Something like Winzip has the same option.

Although the NTFS file system supports both compression and encryption, it does not support both at the same time. This means that you can only select one or the other. A file or folder cannot be both encrypted and compressed at the same time.

See if any of these are useful as an alternative.

Remember you need to turn off "Simple File Sharing" in Folder Options/ View to access the Security tab (or use Safe Mode).

Thanks linney!

The post, with the many many links is appreciated.

I psswd protected the My Documents folder.

Disapointing however, that it takes this many steps to simply password protect a folder - seem very strange to me...thought it "could" be as easy as 1-2-3.

Thanks so much!
