Hi!

I'm new to Sharepoint so please be patient with me. I have a question about password protecting folders/document libraries on Sharepoint. The scenario is: I want to have several folders listed on one page for each employee (employees will be saving their timesheets in these folders). Is there a way to put a password on each folder so that each employee can only view their own folder and add to it? If you could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Arsi

Hello Arsi,

you can set permissions on Document Libaries and Lists not on folders or specific documents.

In your case you would have to create a separate Document Library for each employee and only sett that specific user to be able to access the Document Library.

After you have created the Document Library you can set the persmissions on it by going into the library, click modify settings and columns, chose change permissions for this Document Library and there you will have to remove all the site groups that were added by default and then add only the the useraccount for the users that will have access to the library.

However, if you chose to display the Document Libraries on the QuickLaunch bar all users that have access to the site will be able to see the Document Library but only the user you granted access will be able to open it.

Regards,
Thomas
