I have a 2000 Advanced server with numerous printers connected throughout the network. One of them is a Color Laser printer. I would like to restrict this printer by a password. So that if they want to print to it, then they need to have the password. Is there a way to password restrict a printer? I know how to set a group to be allowed to use it, I just don't want to have to change the group everytime some one wants to print. The printer driver does not have a section that you can restrict it per user basis either.

Thanks for your help...

No--you will need to assign access rights to the printer share.
assigning passwords to shares went out when Workgroups vanished

hi,
why do you not create a Windows Group named ColorLaser...
and allow only this group + admins to print there;
then add in this group all user+group you want.

bye

I was going to do this, but what I wanted to do was not have to logon and place that in their profile and then take it out when I don't want them to have access to it. I wanted somthing that the have to logon with, so that I can have the password change from time to time. o-well, guess I have to do it manualy then.
