I have problem whereby when my users logon it asks them to change there password within 9 days would you like to change the password now. If they select yes it says they dont have suffecint rights to change there password. Any ideas? as i dont know where to look so that i can allow them to change there password.

many thanks

I have the same problem with some users on my network, I would like to find the answer to this one.

details are:-

Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 pro clients

What OS are your clients using? -Best cartoon of all time :-D 'Spongebob Squarepants' :-D

In Active Directory, when you create the user account, it asks you to create a password for the user. On this same tab there is a box you can check that says 'password never expires'. Make sure that is checked.

Also, could there be a password policy on the server that could be preventing the user from being allowed to change the password. I would check to see how the password policy is setup on the server and troubleshoot from there first.

One more thing to check, on there desktops go into my computer, manage, and local users and groups. In the admin group make sure the users are listed, otherwise, they won't even be able to run de-frag. (Found out the hard way) Glen A. Johnson
