Is there any way to configure solaris 8 to allow you to only use your password once?

If not, are there any freeware/3rd party, or upgrades/packages that allow this?

Also, are there any dictionary's you can use to avoid easily guessable passwords?

well, there is a time based way to make the password expired, admintool can make it.
as your requirement is concerned, hmmm, i think a shell script may do this, when the user logged in, isuue a .login script to unlock his account or whatever else, apparently, you should enable some scripts' a 's' stick bit. i know it is not a good way...

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't

Depending on your version of Solaris it should have alot of the features if not all of the ones that you mention above. Do a man page on shadow and you should be able to find some answers there. I hope I am reading your question correctly. Also, you can do a man page on pam, there should be modules available to upgrade your password security.

Hope this helps,
