Password for downloads

Hi

Not sure if this is the right forum or not for this problem. I have an .exe file which I want people to be able to download from my site but I wan't them to have to specify a username and password before they can. How can I do this?

I really dont know if this can be done with dreamweaver(Im still a newbie to dreamweaver)but you could use a cgi/perl script for usernames and passwords to accsess a specific page where you can place your .exe files.
A username and pass would be needed to even get close to your files
