Hi,
I have a database is updated via DAP (DataAccessPages - in Access
2000). Can someone tell me how can I do the following:

Before the user can get in to the DAPs, he/she must insert a correct
Username+Password.
Only if the Username+password are correct he/she may proceed to
update the database.

Thanks in advance,
Benyamin.

bpartob,

The simplest approach is to leave the DAP pages without security, but then have security on the Database file itself. There are two main options for this:
(1) Use Access Security itself- look under Tools, Security, Set Password (you will have to open the database exclusively to set the password). From then on, anyone who opens a DAP connected to this database will have to type in the correct password to even see the data.

(2) Use Network security- Place the database file on a server which is behind the network security. This means that anyone who tries to open the DAP will have to enter a Network User Name and Password to get to the database.

The general rule is that Network security is better than just Access security, and having your data on a server makes it easier to have your data backed up at night...

HTH,

Tim
