Password for Aloha TRANS.DBF

Does anyone know if the TRANS.DBF file has a generic password or is it system specific? I am trying to open up the file using a DBF reader and the reader is asking me for a password to access the contents. I've tried the system startup password and no luck.

Where do you see a trans.dbf file in Aloha? What version?

Rosemary, I am working with a DBF reader and trying to open the underlying data tables for any of the specific daily folders to review the transactions/orders for that day.

Should be in your "Aloha", "Data" folder.

If you are talking about the trans.log file, then no that is a proprietary file. You can obtain alot of the data from the grind files in either the data directory or the dated subdirectories.

Thanks Megabyte. I actually contacted one of the vendors of the software and they've confirmed what you stated. Radiant, I believe out of Texas is the proprietor and more than likely will not give up the password. I also confirmed that most of the Grind files will indeed contain pretty much all the info included in the Trans.log file. These files are created from the Trans.log file as needed.

Trying to gain access to all the information in the Trans.log file in order to recreate the daily sales transactions. By using a DBF manager such as Access, I would like to open up the table, and than create my own summaries for daily/weekly/monthly sales. I understand that there can be some negative consequences to doing this, so I have copied these files to a separate computer so as to not disturb/corrupt the original database or Aloha program.
