Password expiration for remote user

I am trying to force Windows 2000 domain passwords to expire every 60 days for all our employees. How do I do this so it notifies remote employees who login through VPN that their password will expire? When their passwords expire on the server, it does not notify them that password has expired, and simply does not allow them to access any servers. This is not a problem for local network users.

Thanks

I am having the same issue; would be nice to get this resolved.

We have the same thing. This is our workaround with a cisco vpn client.

Setup the vpn client on the remote users computers so it connects first, then login to computer. That way they are already on a vpn to your server when they log in to the laptop. They can change the password and it will also affect the local password for the laptop or desktop as needed.

Greatgazzoo,
Is there a way to do this with Microsoft's VPN client (that is included with Windows)?

Thanks

bleemasi,

. For the Microsoft VPN client, see the "lock" and "unlock" keyboard trick discussed here:
. You might place the remote users in an OU and disable password expiration for those users. It is going to be a regular issue otherwise if the users are remote from the office for extended periods.

. See this script to warn you of pending password expiration problems:
