Hello.
I just "inherited" a Passport 8010 from another branch in my company.
It is running software version 3.1.0.0.
As far as I can tell there should be newer versions available, but I just can't find anywhere to download the new software.
I've tried Google, nortel.com and avaya.com but I can only find releasenotes and userguides.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

You can get the software from avaya.com. You will need a valid service contract with them to access the software. You should also be able to get software from you support company.

Andy88: Thank you for your reply.
I guess I´ll have to inquire if my company has an active service contract, but I fear that we don´t.

Take a good look before upgrading the switch to a later release. The 3.x releases are quite old and thus you could run into several issues like broken configs, unsupported modules (i.e. 8690/8691 with less than 256mb of memory) etc.

If you are not familiar with upgrading the switch from 3.x to 4/5/7 releases i would recommend to ask an avaya partner to assist you.

We do these things quite often to our customers and have seen too many situations where configs/switches crashed.

Cheers

Bas
