Passed HW, OS, and Net+ in less than two hours. Interesting that I didn't do as well on A+ as I expected but better on Net+ than expected. 725, 717, and 846 respectively. Happy Day! Maybe a Microsoft XP exam next....

punkchow,

Congrats! Maybe you could share with others the materials you used, and your own information about the exams themselves (number of questions, topics tested, etc.)

hmm so you did better on Network+. Was it easiar?

Yes, the Network+ was, in my opinion, easier. Maybe because of my background, who knows....
As far as what was on the tests, I'll be sufficiently vague :)
I got 80 questions on the HW and OS which I think is standard? I got 72 on the Net+.
The HW kind of threw me. I studied a lot of the POST errors, memory addresses, IRQ's, etc....never saw a single question on them. I don't remember there being an emphasis on one area, but there were a couple that I thought "these three are definitely wrong, this one would be right assuming this is a typo." I don't know if that was really the case or if I got those right; that would be nice to know.
The OS test was definitely Windows through and through. It had a lot of questions about the ERD and recovery console. Varied pretty well between all the Windows flavors with a definite slant toward NT (go figure).
The Network+ fell right in line with every practice test I saw. Know the connectors, the 802.x standards, the topologies, and troubleshooting. I got about 10 questions where you had to figure out what could be the problem; those are cake. There was a lot more token ring stuff than I thought necessary. Something about a wireless point-to-point vs. point-to-multipoint vs. cellular vs. something else. Maybe a synapse fused or something, but I drew a total blank on it.
What did I use? Well, pretty much everything I could get my hands on. There are tons of free resources out there, and I got quite a bit out of them. One thing about the freebies: DOUBLE CHECK THE ANSWERS! I questioned a few of the answers and then saw the same advice from others. It's sound advice. Trust yourself and use the resources to fill in the holes. If I had only one resource available (no, it's not free, however) it would tbe the Testout series. They are very comprehensive and I got some useful info from them.

Well, good luck to those about to take them,
Adam

punkchow,

That's definately the number of questions that I saw on the Network+, although the exam will change sometime this year.

Your insights into the A+ exams will probably be useful to those preparing for those exams.

Thanks for the info.
