Hi all,

Passed 70-294 today.

Loads of Group policy questions, half of the 39 questions were about group policy, I got to question 17 before I got a question about something other than GP.

paulhthomas,

My current certification path puts me one exam short of MCSE: Security on Windows Server 2003.

That one exam is 70-298, and I'll probably start a new thread to ask if anyone else has taken it. I have no intention of even opening the book in December, so it may be a while before I'm ready for the exam.

Thanks again on the heads up on the schema sim. I have no idea if I got it right, but it seemed pretty straightforward once I read it.

For anyone else who might be taking 70-294 in the near future, I got another sim which I found somewhat confusing until I tried to complete it. This sim involved moving subnets between site containers in Active Directory Sites and Services. In the Properties for each subnet there is a pulldown to select the correct site, and all sites are listed in the pulldown. This needed to be done for 10 or 11 subnets to complete the sim. I found the description somewhat confusing, but once I started the sim, this was also straightforward.

yeah I had that sim as well, can't believe how easy it was, but I suppose it's only easy if you know hat you're doing!
I'm 2 away from the MCSE. just finishing off the 284 (exchange) book than onto 297. can't wait to get it all done and get my life back!

paulhthomas,

I hear you on that getting your life back. I failed 70-294 this past Spring, and didn't work on it at all until about a month ago, when I was laid off and figured it was the perfect time to study.

I spent every night of the last month studying, and managed to get up to speed, but at the expense of alienating my girlfriend for a month.

In hindsight, I should have gotten right back on the horse after I failed 70-294 the first time, but I was just working too much. I could have gotten my MCSE and gotten my life back by now if I would have really made the effort.

Incidentally, I just started a new thread so we can share our opinions of the relative difficulty of various exams. Please share your opinion.

And good luck with 70-284 and 70-297!

I thought I had my life back when I finished my MCSE but now I'm doing SQL 2005 stuff and learning all about a little thing called Vista.

hahaha, yeah, the new batch!
Starting a new job on Monday and my laptop comes with Vista on it. Hope they don't expect me to do any work!
