Wow! I finally got up the courage to take the test. the W2K tests are more difficult than the NT4 variety (or maybe it's because I'm self-studying though these instead of sitting thru classes with my friends and colleagues like I was a couple of years ago).

I encourage all of you who want to pass the W2K certs to buy the red books (examcram), sit down in front of a PC (or three--my friends and I built an inexpensive lab) and bang away on all of the commands and questions until you feel very familiar with them. There are a wealth of good books and studyguides--some free off the internet...

I know getting an MCSE expensive and time-consuming. And no guarantee for success. And many of our friends are doing the unemployment line shuffle. So, pick your certs carefully, based on the goals you set for your career and your life.

Good luck!

The 2k-MCSE exams are much more difficult then there predecessor's...

Congratulations on your pass! From the look's of it,
you should not have any problems getting 2000 certified ;-)

congrats , i'm putting together the courage myself to go for my first one (70-210)
and am indeed planning to get anextra pc in and experiment on that one :)

examcram revision doesn't necessarily mean you know your stuff, but bashing away at everything in a lab is a great way to learn things properly.

Self study MCSE is a lot of hard work, but it does demonstrate to an employer that you aren't afraid of hard work and can work under your own initiative.

Keep up the good work!

Congrats... sitting on my 210 later this month...

Can't type more... have to study :)

I took the 215 last week and was surprised. Needed a 660 and got a 660. What ever happened to the adaptive testing? I had 51 solid questions and several that Had AD details that were quite difficult....

Thats the way the exam is. It wasnt very hard that exam anyway. I got 88% for it

The new W2K exams ARE very hard. I personally think that the 210 was the hardest I took, simply because of the sheer magnitude of the work required for answers. Of course, I got a 970 on it, but it WAS still quite hard and long (and brain intensive).

Hey y'all, keep up the good work! When you get done, you will realize with pleasure that it was worth it all!

I loved the individual exams, but hated 240 (the upgrade exam). I'm a glutton for punishment and did both as I want to do the technical training...

Going to have a go at cluster server this summer - never even seen the product.

i did 70-210 self guided recently, and passed.. i'd recommend the transcender practice exams. oh and getting practice in with all the commands is a good idea as well. I used the osborne study guide and found it quite good.

Transcender is definitely the way to go. I was lucky enough to take a class that was taught by an individual who was part of the team that wrote Windows 2000. (Obviously knows his stuff). He told us to get the CD's, start taking the first test, and stop it immeadiately. Print out the test, and when you've read it, take the test a second time. Then print out only the wrong awnsers. Keep doing this until you get 100%. Do this with all three tests. Once you've gotten 100% on all three tests, he guarenteed we would pass the course, and so far it's worked for me with 70-210 and 70-214. I'm going through the second test for 70-216 now. When this is done, I'll take the course for the new MCSA and then take a break and decide if I want to go onto the MCSE. "It is never too late to learn what is always necessary to know".
