Pass variables to external SWF

Hi,

I have an AS3 Flash console built in Flash CS3. I want to load an external SWF file, and send it a variable.

If this was PHP (etc) then I would be using "mp3player.swf?filename=myclip.mp3" but you can't do that in Flash.

To make things more complicated, the external SWF file is AS2.

Any thoughts?

Thanks - I did just find this today and it does work, to an extent! If you are just looking to talk between AS2 and AS3 - this works really well.

However, I have a complication. I am trying to re-work an existing MP3 player which uses external .as files - and I'm pretty new to this. I can get the AS3 file to send the correct filename to the AS2 MP3 player main timeline, but I can't get the external .as file class to access this variable. And I can't find a way of putting the "connection" code into the class.

I think I might have to just re-write the MP3 player myself unless anyone has some bright ideas!
