Hello Guys the above switch has lost its management although all else sems to be ok , even the console port has no connection .

Does the netmanagement port have a default ip as 8600 has 192.168.168.X ??

Does the console port have the same settings as a BPS or 470 ??

Any help much appreciated guys

I don't believe there is an out-of-band management port on the ERS 1600. When you say lost it's management, you can't ping,SNMP,telnet any IP interface configured on the switch (I'm assuming you're using it as a Layer 3 switch).

You'll need to null that cable before you can use it with an ERS 1600.

Good Luck!

Yes I cant ping ,telnet , device manage or even console onto the management address. The console (hyperterminal) just leaves a blank screen but I put it onto a 470 & its OK.
Yes there is a management port on the front.I will be trying a reboot out of hours !
Thanks for your help,

Mucca

Hi, i think you´re using an wrong console cable. You should use another console cable, the same from 8600 family. Try this ;)

hi, i think you should use a null modem cable with full hand shaking as the old series of 1200 switches, which have a crossed pair through the 2&3 pair.
