Partner System voicemail Help!

First post after going through the forum as best I can. Brief history, small home/business. Originally had Panasonic 308 setup, was given a Partner ACS R.6 setup with Voicemail (V5) when I first tried to power up I kept getting "your call will be transfered to the receptionist" after trying a few things that didn't work I pulled the VM card and now 3 lines and extensions (8) with intercom work as expected. However I would like to get the voicemail working.

1. Is there a way to erase everything and just start over? I don't have any passwords individually or Administrative. As it is now, i try the 'intercom' 777 to get access and it just rings and rings.

2. I basically have 3 Lines (Office, Home, Son) I would like to get voicemail for 2 out of 3 lines. I need the very basic setup i.e I don't need my calls following me to each extension (house isn't that big) or night time attendant, no receptionist etc.

Any help would be much appreciated. This system is probably WAY more than I need, but you can't beat the price, plus I really like the TECH part of this and would love to learn a thing or two.

The first step is to determine the extension numbers of the voice mail ports, which will vary with the cards in the system and their arrangement. That will get you voicemail when you dial 777. Then you can see if you can log in with the "typical" password.
 
The post reads like you have a Partner ACS processor and a Partner Mail VS (R5) voicemail.

How close am I?

If so, check out the following page that will help you determine which ports should go into Hunt Group #7.


Look at page 203/274.

I have 3 cards in the case from Left to Right is 108G9(28)R3.0, Voicemail Card V.5, 103G15(28)R6. Just something I have noticed also is Ext 10 rings 3 times (diff tone than reg ring tone) intermittently as if alerting you of something. This is with the VM card actually out. Anyway back to my initial post, I'll try to send a pic attachment.

The ACS in the center slot is Ext. 10-17
The 308 in the 1st slot is Ext. 18-25
The Voice Mail in the 2nd slot is seen as Ext. 26-31

The VS Mail uses the last 2 ports, unless the PCMCIA card gives you 4. So the voice mail port extensions are 30 and 31, or 29 through 31.

Put those in Hunt Group 7, #505-7-(Ext. No.)-1, and also make sure that NO OTHER extension is included in that group.

You should now be able to dial Intercom 777 and hear "Welcome to Partner Mail VS".

If you get that far, come back with some ideas of how you want it to answer, and what options you want to give to your callers.
 
SUCCESS - Got through, "Welcome to Partner Mail VS" now it doesn't 'Transfer to Receptionist' either. I'm still working on how exactly I want to set up the voicemail but wanted to thank you for the quick response and all the HELP!! I've been going through the .pdf and am blown away by what the system is capable of. Hope I don't run out my welcome by asking too many noob questions.

Yup, the Partner ACS packs quite a bit into a (fairly) small package.

Line1 (Office) – Controlled by Mac-Mini (Phonevalet) Answers calls, Transfers to Fax, Logs Calls, Records, Stores VM, e-mails, Prints. I’m happy with this setup.

Line2 (Wife) – 1. Would like to answer with her greeting.
2. Call in and check her VM.
3. Call in and Leave VM at Office Ext (for me and bypass computer)

Line3 (Son) – Not actually setup yet but planning for the future (11Y.O.)
Alternately, to call line 2 (wife) and leave a “if you would like to leave a message for (son) press ??”
“if you would like to leave a message for (me) press ??”

Line4 (Daughter) – 3 Y.O. We will deal with that when the time comes ?

Any other suggestions or Ideas on using the Partner System in a home environment are most welcome. I currently have the Music on Hold and the Intercom between extensions set up.

DOOR PHONE
I previously had a Panasonic 308 System with a door module to communicate with someone at the front door. The Door box worked with the existing two wire setup used for the original Door bell. My Question, can this same speaker with button push be used with the Partner ACS or do I have to use the factory ‘Avaya’ Door Phone box. In checking around I believe you also need another module to go with the Door box? Is there a work around?

Hey Paul,

I'll chime in on the door phone. Avaya's door phone is simply a re-badged Bogen door phone. If the door phone can be connected to a standard Tip/Ring port then I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work. Also, there is no other equipment needed.

Well, for line 2, the simplest way is to have your wife's extension cover the line, use #208-02-(her extension number). Give her Automatic VMS Coverage, #310-(her extension number)-1. If answers after 3 rings, unless you change #321-(her extension number)-X. When she calls in, *7 gets her a log-in prompt instead of her greeting, and *8 plus your extension number transfers to your extension to talk to you or leave a message if you don't answer.

For the 2nd senario, have line 2 answered by the Auto Attendant, by erasing the setting in #208, and use #206-7-02-1 instead. Number of rings in #506-1=Day/2=Night/02-X. The auto attendant answers, greeting plays, "For Fred, enter Ext. XX, for Barney, enter Ext. XX.....". Be aware that the "Dial-0/Timeout" is going to ring at Ext. 10, so you may want to change your office extension with the kitchen extension. You'll still be able to program from Ext. 11, but the "operator" calls won't bother you in the office.
 
WOW - Thanks for the quick responses. I'll test it out in the morning. I'm hoping 'Dexman' is right and I can use my existing Door setup. I'll probably end up using my 1st VM scenario at least for starters. Once again Thanks for the quick responses.

I don't believe the Panasonic door speaker is compatible with the Partner system. It is just a speaker with a push-button.

For the Bogen unit you can probably get info from their website. I will have to go there myself and get some info on it.

Well, voicemail accomplished. Doorphone, not sure Syquest may be right re: Panasonic Door Speaker but I haven't given up the Ghost yet. I did #606 Doorphone Alert Extensions - Alert Doorphone 1 alert to ext 10 for a trial. I then did #604 to identify the Ext for the Doorphone (Ext 25) ... Hit the doorphone button ........ Nothing. Did I miss anything or do I have to get a Bogen, Avaya, Viking Doorphone.

Connect a basic single line telephone to EXT 25 and go off hook. If you hear a "ding-dong" coming from EXT #10, then the programming is correct and the old door phone will not work.

You can use the Avaya, Bogen or even some Viking models.

Dexman - Thanks for following up. You were right I did as you said and I heard the "Ding-Dong" so I guess I need an Avaya, Bogen or Viking. Anyone in the used Door Phone Business? I guess it's off to ebay. Once again thanks to everyone for there help.

Many people tend to gravitate towards Viking because some of their offerings look better in a residential setting than the Avaya/Bogen model does.

Scan Viking's website, select a model that catches your eye, Google the model and see what you can come up with. [thumbsup2]

That unit looks quite interesting. It may work with the Panasonic speaker, but you will have to rewire the Panasonic to match the way the Avaya LUADS doorspeaker is wired and verify the speaker impedance that it comes close to the Avaya unit.

Thanks, that's my hope. If this works I will feel very fortunate to have saved some $$$ and to have come across such a helpful forum.
