Partner system data output possible?

Question: Which Partner revisions have system data output, other than SMDR info?

I have had some success downloading system data from tel systems that support SMDR ports. This works because it supports serial printers, which also communicates with serial terminal emulators. The command may be, "Print system data." Just save the terminal screen as a text file. (I use the Absolute Telnet terminal program.)

Note that this is a readable text file, not a proprietary backup file nor a GUI screen capture.

The huge advantage is that you get an instant overview of the system settings. You may or may not be able to modify settings. This is great for new customers' systems where you need to troubleshoot an unknown box.

And if there is a trouble report, I can review the text file on my laptop without being at the site.

I've used Partner Remote Access before and the rev 7 has, I understand, improved it. But, aside from programming and backup, does any Partner have a general system data output?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Once you have the system translations downloaded to the Partner Remote Administration program, select File - Print to File, and save the text file. Then open it up and print it out.

Thanks, Tommy;

This will work as it shows full pages of info.

Of course, a direct download--without having to step thru the Remote Admin stuff at all--is fast, simple and more a reliable connection. And that is sometimes very helpful.

I and others, as you know, have had our share of fits and starts getting RA to hook up. Nevertheless, I much prefer the laptop's ability to show whole pages of info at a time.

Thanks again, Tommy

Not quite what you are looking for, but there was a PassageWay solution as late as 1998 that included the following applications:

[ul]
[li]Telephony Manager – for controlling incoming and outgoing calls[/li]
[li]Phonebook – for managing contact information[/li]
[li]Log Manager – automated recording of phone call information, and support for collecting notes.[/li]
[li]Script Editor – for automating repetitive tasks[/li]
[li]Auto-Task Manager – allows specifying criteria for triggering scripts to run automatically[/li]
[li]Anywhere Dialer – Allows dialing phone numbers from within any Windows application.[/li]
[/ul]
