I have a customer that has a Partner ACS Rel 5.0 that is putting calls on hold at night. When this occurs there are no green lights on any of the phones. The system has a night service button programmed, but it is not used. The system has the following boards:

slot 1 - processor
slot 2 - 308E board
slot 3 - 400EC board
slot 4 - Partner Mial VS Rel 5.0

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks for your help.

When the lines are locked up, with NO stations having a green light showing, try putting an auto-intercom button for EVERY extension in the system on a set, including 76, 78, and 79. You may have to do it in stages, ie, program the buttons for as many stations as you have blank buttons, check to see if it indicates a station off hook, then reprogram them for the next range of extensions, check again, etc.

Possibly some extension or modem or device is defective, and perhaps this will reveal which one is grabbing the lines.

Hi teletec1052,
Look at the programming of the DXD function. If they aren't using it, then make sure it doesn't answer the lines. It sounds like you have DXD set for night only. Any time the night button is engaged the fault will occur.

Sounds like the ASA needs adjusting. (If they are not using it remove it.)Make sure it is disabled at night.

ASA and DXD are not controlled by the Night Service button at all. They are controlled by their own ASA button and DXD button.

If they are using the functions, make sure that the recording are there, and that they work. Several locations have had power surges, which wiped the ASA and DXD messages. Then customer complains that callers hear one ring and static. Telco keeps looking for a short on the line, when it is really DXD answering without a message, or one that has been scrambled and "sounds" like "static"

Hey TTT,
You are right about the ASA or DXD buttons. I forgot since I haven't used that feature since Partner II days. Doesn't the PC card store messages in static ram as opposed to the P II that always seemed to lose the ASA or DXD greetings?

Thanks to all who responded. Found that a credit card machine was causing the problem.
