We have been using a partner plus system for more than 4 years now. 2-3 months ago, we started to hear noise on extensions 10 and 11 only. The noise is sometimes on both extensions simultaneously or on one or the other at different times. It has been more consistent on extension 11 then it is on 10. Sometimes the noise is very loud where the user is unable to use the phone. This noise issue is intermitent, but comes and goes every few days.

Any idea why this is happening?
What can be done to fix it?

Thanks,
JJ

common problem with 206 modules , if you have two modules try swapping them and see if the noise goes to 16 and 17 or just repalce the 206

I don't have 2 modules at this time. I had 2 modules but stopped working (you can smell it) about a year ago. Come to think of it, it made similar noises for few days before it died.

Could this be happening again, but taking a longer time?

If I were to purchase a new one, is there another card besides the 206 and gives me caller id?

Thanks,
JJ

Buy a partner ACS processor and replace the plus processor. It will give you 3 lines and 8 extensions. then you won't have to worry about the memory battery failing.

acs would definatley be the way to go given the config

206 is the only thing that will work with your processor , they arent available new only refurb

Let me make sure I understand...

If I purchase an ACS processor to replace the partner plus processor, I will be able to get 3 lines and 8 extensions with caller ID?

If so, is there like a model number for the ACS or can you recommend a place to buy it?

Would my 206 module still work until it dies?

Thanks,
JJ

There are 2 versions of the Partner ACS processor on the market. The R6 processor is a 3x8 while the R7 is a 5x9.

Both versions can support caller ID and, if needed, you can add a voicemail to the system. If money is available, upgrade and be done with the noise problems once and for all. [smile]

I have an avaya partner messaging R6 VM, would it still work with the ACS processor?

Also, what about other modules, like a 400E, would it still work as well?

They're all compatable, but the 206's are notorious for becoming static-ey.

Sounds like you have a Partner Plus, with 1-206, 1-400, and the Messaging.

Put the ACS in place of the Plus Processor, put the Messaging in the 1st slot, and the 400 in slot 2. (Unorthodox, I know, but there are issues with 400's and voice mail, thus putting the 400 AFTER the V/M)

Get a new carrier as well, as they provide better ventilation due to wider spacing between modules.

One quick note:

If you want to go with caller ID on the phone lines, and you are currently using a 400E module, you will need to swap out the 400E for a 400EC.
