Hey experts!

This one has me baffled, so here I am...

I have installed a new Partner system for a client. First here's the equipment:
5 slot carrier
Slot 1-308EC
Slot 2-308EC
Slot 3- R8 processor
Slot 4- empty
Slot 5-Partner messaging module R7 w/4 port card

The issue is when a call comes in, the AA picks it up immediately with "your call is being transferred" and goes to extension 10 as a default mail box. Also, all the programmed lines light up all at once, then go out after a second leaving the line light lit as it's going to the mail box.

I have tried reprogramming this thing several time without luck. I even moved the messaging module from slot 4 to slot 5 just to see if that helped.

I have installed several of these modules with no problem in the past, but this one just does not seem to want to work...I am wondering if this unit is bad? Has anyone had this problem before? It's almost as if the VMS Hunt delay #506 won't work.

I even un-programmed everything and the calls still go straight to the "your call is being transferred".

Here's how I programmed it just to be clear:

#206 group call dist. all 4 lines assigned to group 7
#505 (Module in slot 5)Ext 42, 43, 44, 45 assigned to group 7
#507 Hunt schedule set to "always"
#506 Hunt delay set to 5 rings for all 4 incoming lines

What do you think? The issue is in the messaging module for sure sine I remove the card, everything works fine. I must be missing something with it.

Thanks in advance!

First, you should NEVER skip slots. The extension numbers assigned to a slot are dependant on the card in the slot, so what extensions are going to be assigned to the empty one? 6 extensions, 8 ectensions, 12 extensions, none at all???

Put your VM in slot 4 where it belongs, and put 35, 36, 37, and 38 in Hunt Group 7

Never skip slots, gotcha. I originally had it in slot 4 but tried it in slot 5 as I was trying everything to get this to work. I did finally get it working by assigning extension 41. I originally had 42,43,44,45. I was off by one apparently.

It's good to know now what to expect when the extensions are not assigned correctly! I have it back in slot 4 and it's working.

Thanks for you help as always, my friend!

OK....I'm a little bit confused (a common occurrence). [lol]

Shouldn't ports 37->40 be assigned to Hunt Group #7?

R8 processor: = 10->18
308 #1: = 19->28
308 #2: = 29->36
A.P.M.: = 37->40

Oops...I re-checked the piece of paper I jotted down the extensions on and I skipped 26 & 27 for some unknown reason. [purpleface]

Scrobie..You may already know this but... What I like to do when first setting up a VM system in the Partner, I assign all of the VM ports that I have to a auto intercom button on a set nearby...Now you can see which ports are in use while testing..i.e 35, 36, 37,38...When finished, you can always remove them for other features....Just a nice little tool to prove your work or trouble shoot VM ports.
